Our Privacy Policy

Gordon Wood Insurance (Agency) protects the confidentiality of client information and Agency proprietary information.  We require employees not to disclose information held to be confidential by the Agency. We require all employees to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act is a Federal Law that established national standards for electronic health care security and privacy protection of health information. Noncompliance of HIPAA rules can result in termination of employment as well as fines and possible imprisonment. The Agency provides HIPAA training as required by law.

When we receive a phone call or communication of any kind from someone seeking information about a client or policy, we must first ask for and receive three HIPAA identifiers (per HIPAA training). If the person on the phone is not the Named Insured, we must confirm any authority by researching information already provided in the client’s AMS account or by requesting the necessary legal documents before proceeding to give the caller any information. This process must be followed, so if you encounter any difficulty, had the person off to another qualified agency staff member to handle the process.
